Our story

How we got our start?
The Hatteras story began in 1971 as a hobby for Walter Perkins Jr. selling handcrafted hammocks out of the trunk of his Toyota station wagon. By 1987, Hatteras Hammocks had blossomed into the world’s top hammock producer, known for its humble and storied beginnings and its unmatched designs.
What makes our product unique?
Hatteras Hammocks is about luxury relaxation and enjoying the finer things in life. The materials, the meticulous handcrafting, and the passion and experience of our sales and service teams are what make up the Hatteras Difference.
Why we love what we do?
Through the years, our commitment to making a better hammock has led us to both new and better materials for construction, and advanced methods of manufacture. Our goal is to offer the highest quality in every facet of our design and construction, to always better ourselves and our products.

Product Description

Truly among the comfiest-looking hammocks on the market -- and rest assured, the looks don't lie! Settle in atop the plush, wicker-woven quilted ribbons, and prepare yourself for absolute relaxation abandon. Our Soft Weave Hammocks are woven from soft, all-weather acrylic fabric that's resistant to staining, rot, mold and mildew, and with a 1-inch center layer of polyester fiberfill batting, for added comfort. Fabric thread is solution-dyed, so the earthy Antique Beige color isn't applied afterward through washing or dipping, but goes in during the making of the thread fiber itself, becoming a permanent part of the fiber. Unfinished cumaru hardwood spreader bars and zinc-plated steel hanging hardware make this pretty relaxation package that much prettier, and more weather-durable, still.
